Spring Awakening
“Half-shut eyelashes, half-open mouths…”
Frank Wedekind’s controversial drama Spring Awakening explores budding sexuality and the erotic fantasies produced by a repressed society. 14-year-old Melchior sees beauty in sexuality but is chased out of town by accusations of despicable moral character. 14-year-old Wendla is forced into a tragic abortion that claims her life. Follow Melchior as he battles through purgatory and faces the ghosts of his past.
Romeo and Juliet
“Violent delights have violent ends…”
We continue a successful run of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Icarus Theatre Collective is proud to present an exciting twist on a tragic tale. Watch as two young loves fall in love against all odds. Misadventure, family pride, and ancient quarrels will keep you wanting more!

Here’s Our Recent Blog Post!
Getting back into the Swindon of things, by Philippa Kane
Yesterday was a big day for the Romeo and Juliet cast as it was their first day back on tour after a two-week holiday. After some much needed R&R they were pumped to be back on stage at The Arts Centre in Swindon.
Zac and Sam got right to work setting up for that evening’s performance, drilling Verona together for our star-crossed lovers. Meanwhile some of the other cast members were handling the other side of Icarus Theatre Collective’s productions, the school workshops. Georgina and David made their way to Ridgeway High School to work with the year 12 and 13 drama students before they came to see the show in the evening.
Ridgeway had chosen the workshop – Shakespeare the Icarus Way: Building a Shakespearean Character. This gave the students the opportunity to develop a character of Romeo and Juliet exactly as the cast did when they were in rehearsals. Georgina and David started with briefly discussing R&J and its characters followed by a quick physical warm-up and then the fun began!
The students were open to all ideas and didn’t let any inhibitions stop them, really making the most of the workshop and the time they had with the cast. Georgina and David got to work with small groups so that the students received a lot of advice and help on an individual level as well as a group. It was great to see Georgina and David bouncing off the kid’s energy and at the end of the workshop they were thrilled to being seeing the show that evening.
It was then time for the cast to have a quick rest and some dinner before fight calls and then show time!
